PSV has made a strong start in the Otten Innovation Cup, defeating the Belgian side RSC Anderlecht 2-1. After the match, we spoke with PSV forward Gino Verhulst, who was pleased with the tournament's opening performance: “I’m happy that we’ve secured the three points. We created enough chances in this match, which is something we can be satisfied with.” He also noted areas for improvement: “Finishing our chances is still an area to focus on; we could have done better there. I think we might have had a penalty, but overall, we’re happy with the three points.”
The Otten Innovation Cup features some different rules compared to usual. Verhulst described the match as challenging: “The game flows continuously now, with little rest and you have to stay alert all the time. The new rules took some getting used to, but in the end, we adapted well.”
Verhulst is looking forward to the rest of the tournament, hoping to reach the final and make a significant impact with assists and goals. Tomorrow, PSV will continue their campaign in the Otten Innovation Cup, with a match against Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino and another later in the day against Manchester United.
