Day two of the Otten Innovation Cup was all about the knockout stage. Following the final group matches, the first crossover fixtures were played to gradually shape the final standings. Four teams have secured their place in the battle for a top-four finish, while the remaining four sides are set to compete for positions five through eight. With the decisive matches still to come, all the final rankings will be determined tomorrow.
In the crossover matches for the top four places, Palmeiras SE, PSV, Chelsea FC and AS Monaco have all secured their spots. PSV faced Chelsea FC and came out on top with a 3-1 victory, however Palmeiras SE had a tougher challenge but managed to hold on for a 1-0 win against AS Monaco. As a result, tomorrow’s final is set: PSV will take on Palmeiras SE, while Chelsea FC and AS Monaco will battle it out for a third place ranking.
The remaining four teams were also in action in the crossover matches for places five through eight too. Manchester United FC proved too strong for Club Brugge, winning 2-0, while Benfica SL cruised to a convincing 4-0 victory over Adelaide United FC.
