At 12.15pm, all spectators gathered around Pitch 1 for the third-place play-off between Chelsea FC and AS Monaco at the Otten Innovation Cup. It proved to be an entertaining contest, with the English side ultimately coming out on top.
Good Use of Their Numerical Advantage
Chelsea FC finished third at the 76th edition of the Otten Innovation Cup after defeating AS Monaco 1-0 in the third-place play-off. The only goal of the match came shortly after Monaco player Dary Leunga Leunga received a yellow card and was sent to the sidelines for four minutes. Chelsea took full advantage of the numerical superiority, with Leo Cardoso scoring what proved to be the winning goal.
After the break, AS Monaco pushed hard in search of an equaliser but repeatedly found goalkeeper Toby Bell in excellent form. Chizzy Ezenwata and Chukwuani both came close to scoring, but the Chelsea goalkeeper kept a clean sheet.
The match ended 1-0, securing third place for Chelsea FC, while AS Monaco concluded the tournament in fourth position.
