Manchester United en Adelaide United hebben hun laatste groepswedstrijd afgesloten met een 2-2 gelijkspel. De Engelsen waren voor rust de bovenliggende partij en namen via treffers van Camacho Sidos en Mpofu een comfortabele 2-0 voorsprong.

Na de pauze kantelde het duel volledig. Adelaide United ging nadrukkelijk op zoek naar de aansluitingstreffer en kreeg daarvoor loon naar werken toen Tatu de 2-1 binnenschoot. After the break, however, the momentum shifted completely. Adelaide United pushed forward in search of a way back into the game and were rewarded when Tatu reduced the deficit to 2-1. The Australians continued to press and came close on several occasions through Garuccio and Crawford, while another effort narrowly missed the target.

The equaliser finally arrived in the 37th minute. Crawford capped an impressive second-half performance from Adelaide United by finding the back of the net to make it 2-2.

Manchester United nearly snatched a late winner, but McEvoy’s free-kick landed on the roof of the net.

As a result, the points were shared after a true game of two halves, with Manchester United dominating before the break and Adelaide United producing a strong second-half comeback.

This was not enough for either team to secure a place on the podium.
