Manchester United en Palmeiras delen de punten

Manchester United en Palmeiras hebben hun wedstrijd op de Otten Innovation Cup 2026 afgesloten met een 1-1 gelijkspel. De Braziliaanse ploeg was gedurende grote delen van de wedstrijd de meest dreigende partij, maar zag de Engelsen al vroeg terugkomen na een achterstand.

De eerste mogelijkheid van de wedstrijd ontstond al na twee minuten. Slordig balverlies van Manchester United stelde Palmeiras in staat om direct gevaar te stichten. Daarmee gaven de Brazilianen meteen hun intenties af in de openingsfase van het duel.

Na elf minuten kwam Palmeiras dichtbij de openingstreffer. Fabiano Rodrigues Pereira haalde hard uit en zag zijn inzet maar net over de kruising verdwijnen. Een minuut later was het alsnog raak. De aanvaller was bij zijn volgende kans wel trefzeker en zette Palmeiras op een 1-0 voorsprong.

De grootste mogelijkheden waren opnieuw voor Palmeiras. Manchester United and Palmeiras played out a 1-1 draw in their Otten Innovation Cup 2026 encounter. While the Brazilian side enjoyed the better of much of the game and created the majority of the chances, United responded well after going behind to earn a share of the points.

The first opportunity of the match came after just two minutes. A careless giveaway by Manchester United allowed Palmeiras to create an early opening and set the tone for a positive start from the Brazilian side.

Palmeiras came close to taking the lead in the 11th minute when Fabiano Rodrigues Pereira unleashed a powerful effort that sailed narrowly over the top corner. However, the forward did not have to wait long for another opportunity. Just a minute later, he made no mistake, finding the back of the net to give Palmeiras a deserved 1-0 advantage.

Manchester United responded almost immediately. A corner in the 15th minute caused problems in the Palmeiras penalty area and Ngwashi Chinjie applied the finishing touch to bring the sides level at 1-1.

After the break, Palmeiras continued to look the more threatening team. The Brazilian outfit enjoyed more possession and spent long periods in Manchester United’s half, although clear-cut chances remained limited.

Their best opportunities of the second half came from set pieces and quick attacking moves. One of the Palmeiras defenders connected with a free-kick delivery but saw his header drift just wide of the post. Later on, Palmeiras threatened again when the right winger cut the ball back for Fabiano Rodrigues Pereira, but his effort was comfortably saved by the Manchester United goalkeeper.

As the match entered its closing stages, both teams pushed for a winning goal. Manchester United and Palmeiras showed attacking intent and looked determined to claim all three points, yet neither side was able to find a decisive breakthrough.
