Chelsea FC heeft ook zijn laaste wedstrijd in de groepsfase op de Otten Innovation Cup winnend afgesloten. Tegen Club Brugge boekten de Engelsen een 2-0 overwinning.

Chelsea was al vroeg dreigend uit een vrije trap van Richards, die door Osborne werd ingekopt. Keeper Kestemont had echter geen moeite met die inzet. Na zeventien minuten verdubbelde Chelsea de voorsprong toen Chizzy Ezenwata de bal knap met de borst meenam en vervolgens onberispelijk binnen schoot.

Club Brugge probeerde iets terug te doen en kreeg meerdere mogelijkheden. Vandeperre speelde zich door de Chelsea-verdediging heen, maar zijn schot miste richting. Ook Amengai was dicht bij een treffer uit een vrije trap net buiten het strafschopgebied, maar zijn poging verdween net over de kruising.

Chelsea hield vervolgens stand en stelde de 2-0 overwinning, en daarmee de groepswinst, veilig.

Chelsea threatened early on from a free-kick delivered by Richards and headed by Osborne, but goalkeeper Kestemont dealt comfortably with the effort. After seventeen minutes, Chelsea doubled their lead when Chizzy Ezenwata controlled the ball brilliantly with his chest before finishing emphatically.

Club Brugge looked for a way back into the game and created several opportunities. Vandeperre broke through the Chelsea defence, but his effort drifted off target. Amengai also came close from a free-kick just outside the penalty area, curling his shot narrowly over the top corner.

Chelsea held firm for the remainder of the match to secure a 2-0 victory and, with it, top spot in the group.
