English:
Chelsea FC Secure Third Place with Narrow Victory Over AS Monaco

Chelsea FC concluded their Otten Innovation Cup 2026 campaign with a third-place finish after edging past AS Monaco 1-0 in the third-place play-off.

The London side started brightly and created the first opportunity of the match through Sol Gordon, whose effort found the side netting. A key moment followed when Monaco's Dary Leunga Leunga received a yellow card and a four-minute time penalty after a foul on Chelsea striker Chizzy Ezenwata.

Chelsea quickly took advantage of the extra man. Leo Cardoso found the breakthrough shortly after Leunga Leunga left the field, giving the English side a 1-0 lead.

AS Monaco attempted to respond, with Yannick Dodo coming close to an equaliser, while Chelsea nearly doubled their advantage before the break through Harrison Bettoni, whose header drifted narrowly over the crossbar.

The second half produced few clear-cut opportunities until the closing stages, when AS Monaco increased the pressure. Chizzy Ezenwata came closest to levelling the score, but goalkeeper Toby Bell produced an excellent save to preserve Chelsea's lead. Chukwuani also tested the Chelsea goalkeeper on multiple occasions, including a powerful long-range effort that Bell pushed behind for a corner.

Chelsea remained dangerous on the counter and nearly added a second goal through Sol Gordon in the closing moments, but his effort was diverted into the side netting by the Monaco goalkeeper.

Moments later, the referee blew the final whistle, confirming Chelsea's 1-0 victory and securing third place at the 76th edition of the Otten Innovation Cup. AS Monaco finished the tournament in fourth place.
